Research Development Review is peer-reviewed, and we expect the first issue will appear later in 2024 (date to be determined by the number and quality of submissions received). The goal is for the journal to publish at least quarterly, though that frequency may change depending on the volume of submissions.

Authors need not be members of NORDP to submit to the Journal. Research Development Review welcomes original contributions, be they empirical, theoretical, conceptual, descriptive, definitional, or evaluative in nature. However, the Journal does not accept submissions that

• Endorse, or appear to endorse, commercial or political products, programs, or organizations;
• Were previously published elsewhere; or
• Are already under consideration by, or in preparation for publication in or by any other journal, website, publisher, or organization.

Analyses of political programs, legislative decisions or actions, or similar topics of relevance to the field of research development (such as the funding of research programs, prioritizing research areas, etc.) are allowable. In certain circumstances, the Editorial Board may consider accepting articles previously published elsewhere, or co-publishing arrangements with other journals, provided that the original publisher agrees.

Note that in order to access the submission portal you will need to have an active account with NORDP’s InfoReady instance. (If you’ve ever submitted an abstract for a conference workshop or presentation, you should have one; if not, follow the InfoReady link above and click on “Register” in the upper right-hand corner of the site. If you are an administrator on the NORDP instance, you may need to register with an alternative email in order to access the submission site.

The Journal is also seeking peer reviewers. If you’re interested in reviewing for Research Development Review, go to https://nordp.infoready4.com/#competitionDetail/1940508  and complete the form. We’ll need an expression of interest, a statement of your areas of expertise, and a brief resume (an NSF- or NIH-style biosketch is fine; please do not submit full academic vitae). Applications to serve will be reviewed by the peer review editors. If accepted, you will need to sign a confidentiality agreement and agree to a code of ethics, and then complete the peer reviewer training before being assigned to review. Reviews will be managed through InfoReady, just as NORDP does for conference abstracts.

Peer reviewers will serve for an initial term of two years, and are expected to review 2-3 articles per year. At the end of the initial term, reviewers can apply for reappointment to serve another two-year term, for a maximum of six consecutive years. At the end of six years’ service, you must wait at least one calendar year before applying to serve again.
